Contact tracing is vital in our battle to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. To help with this resource-intensive and painstaking work, our GovTech engineers co-developed the new TraceTogether app with the Ministry of Health (Singapore).
The app will estimate the proximity between app users and the duration of encounters through the exchange of short-distance Bluetooth signals between mobile phones. It does not collect any personal and geolocation data.
Join us in stopping the spread of COVID-19 with community-driven contact tracing using the new TraceTogether app! Download TraceTogether (https://lnkd.in/gj_Hmdw) and do your part in safeguarding our nation!

Malaysia has jumped from a laid back approach to COVID to the tightest possible restrictions. This must come as a shock to both society and economy. Singapore in contrast has been gradually escalating and is at a high state of vigilance but not yet closed off the country to the world. Nevertheless, the Malaysian decision will put Singapore in a deeply compromised position. First 300,000 Malaysians come to Singapore to work daily. Business across the economy but especially SMEs will be impacted. It aslo imports a large proportion of fresh produce fron across the border. Another round of panic buying, this time with some justification will ensue.
Given this development and the massive falls in Europe and the US, the SGX will likely see its worst day in its history.
I expect that the government may consider radical measures such as suspending the stock exchange, drawing down past reserves to activate support measures, introducing rationing of food as well as a stop work policy for a temporary period and activating the military to supplement civil heath resources.
Everyone should realise the seriousness but also that we will only get through by cooperating, thinking of others and being patient.

Despite Malaysia's travel restrictions from Wednesday till 31 March, Singapore is not in danger of running out of food supplies and other essential items. The government has adopted a robust multi-pronged strategy to ensure that we have enough supplies during a disruption.

As on 12 March, 128,343 confirmed cases of coronavirus were reported globally, with as many as 4,720 deaths, an analysis by data science firm Gramener, based on WHO and Johns Hopkins University Data shows. China, Singapore and Oman had the best recovery rate, aside from Andorra and Nepal (100%). In India, the share stood at 5.48%, but several cases have only emerged in the last few days.
As per the World Economic Forum, Singapore’s success can be attributed to its efficient health system, extensive tracing and its small population accepting the government’s orders.
What learnings can India gather to bolster its preventive measures? Share your comments.

Starting on March 19th, everyone entering Hong Kong must self-quarantine for 14 days and will be required to wear an electronic wristband which tracks their location.
Here's my interview with a resident who landed from Zurich yesterday and was required to wear one.
Hong Kong has largely managed the outbreak and many people have resumed to work. But of 57 new coronavirus cases recorded in the past few weeks, 50 were travelers from overseas, which is why it's enforcing this measure.

As travellers find their trips upended almost overnight as border closures and city lockdowns are announced across the world over recent days to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, travel players are finding that their business reflexes are being called to the test.
Travel agents in destinations across the region most affected by tough government restrictions on people mobility are fighting against time and limited resources to get their customers home or onward to their next destination, while others in the travel and tourism supply chain have devised friendlier compensation means to soften the heartache of disrupted trips.
My colleagues at TTG Asia editorial desk check in on industry players in #Cambodia, #Malaysia, #Singapore and #Philippines.

Today is no ordinary weekend in Indonesia.
The number of confirmed infected COVID-19 patients spikes, one minister get infected and patients died while waiting for test result.
Singapore is implementing very strict travel advisory for neighbour ASEAN visitors, technically Singapore starting isolating themself - there must be some very serious considerations.
And for us, the well being of our colleague is always the highest priority.
Deals, funding and great idea can wait.
So we start WFH tomorrow onwards, limit non-essential travel and implement social distancing for Indonesia team. Singapore team has started it couple weeks ago.
Tomorrow will be no ordinary Monday.…more
